Ah! Last fall I was undone. All my performing, people pleasing, and feelings of inadequacy came to the surface.
I immediately stopped everything I was doing. The Lord spent that season uprooting lies that I had believed, cultural things I had added to my Christianity.
The need to perform and do in order to receive grace and love. The need to hide behind activity in order to hide my true self. But then I realized there was nothing wrong with my true self. In fact, we are all craving to be our true selves and to join others who are not preaching at us but who are encouraging us, holding us accountable and helping us launch into new territory despite the fear that new territory brings.
During that season I heard a podcast called Bread and Wine. It's a group of Jesus followers in Atlanta who were in the same season I was in. They were asking hard questions. They were being real about things they didn't understand in the Bible. They were talking with each other about who we are as Christians and what does that actually look like in the midst of society these days.
They had broken out of the Christian plastic packaging. I have been craving this for my own soul for so long. I figured I was not the only one.
I wanted to create a space for women to come, be loved, be seen and heard and process life as believers along side me.
Introducing Bread and Wine, Spring Hill.
This is a once-a-month gathering, on the second Thursday of each month, starting on September 14th at 7pm.
We will gather at my house for a meal together and a glass or two of wine.
And we will process through the joys, the frustrations, the darkness, the light. We will take the filters off and talk openly without judgement or need to fix one another.
I want to create a space where Jesus would pull a chair up at the table. Jesus is not too fond of Christian plastic packaging. He is always interested in getting to the heart.
Unfortunately, space is limited so I'm looking for women who are committed to the once-a-month get together.
